In totaal zeven eilanden vormen het River Gambia National Park.
Op 3 van deze eilanden leven chimpansees.
Dit is ook een van de favoriete plekken voor de gewone nijlpaarden in Gambia.
Elders in Oost-Afrika zijn de dwergnijlpaarden aanwezig.
Op deze eilanden, als het tij op zijn laagst is, heb je misschien het geluk om de dwergkrokodillen te spotten.
Pelikanen, palmgieren, wevers en vele andere kleurrijke vogels kunnen hier ook worden gespot.
Op een mooie, zonnige dag, terwijl we een boottocht naar deze eilanden maakten nadat we al deze dieren in het wild hadden gezien, grapte iemand: "Is dit waar National Geographic ook hun films opneemt"?
Dit is een ideale tour voor mensen die op een korte vakantie in Gambia zijn en een reis landinwaarts willen maken om de wilde dieren van Gambia te zien: nijlpaarden, chimpansees, bavianen en prachtige natuur.
De tour begint s'morgens vroeg vanuit uw hotel en rijdt op de zuidelijke oever landinwaarts naar de Kudang-werf, aan de rand van de Gambia-rivier. We rijden door de dorpen Fulani en Mandinka en zien gigantische baobabbomen.
Uiteindelijk beginnen we aan de boottocht naar het River Gambia National Park om chimpansees, wilde krokodillen, nijlpaarden enz. te spotten.
Daarna een lunch.
En tenslotte weer terug naar uw hotel.

In this islands when the tide is at its lowest you maybe lucky to spot the dwarf crocodiles.
Pelicans, palmnut vultures, weavers and many other colourfull birds can be spotted here too.

This is an ideal tour for those on a short holiday in Gambia and wants to do a trip inland to see Gambia's wildlife - Hippos, Chimpanzees, Baboons and beautiful nature.
The tour begins from your hotel.
Early in the morning we drive on the south bank further inland to the Kudang wharf edge of the Gambia river.
Then driving through Fulani and Mandinka villages,and giant baobab trees.
Finally we begin the boat trip to the River Gambia national park to spot Chimpansees, wild crocodiles, hippos etc.
Lunch.
The journey back to the hotel.
