DE BIJAGOS ARCHIPELAGOS - Guinee-Bissau
Deze tour naar Guinee-Bissau, de voormalige Portugese kolonie met snelle toegang van Gambia tot Senegal, zal blijvende herinneringen achterlaten.
Het land dat beroemd is om zijn archipels, dieren in het wild en culturele festiviteiten, is een verborgen juweeltje, ongerept door massatoerisme.
De tour vertrekt om 7.00 uur vanaf het hotel en rijdt vervolgens naar het oosten.
De eerste stop zou zijn bij de Brikama Live Stock Market in de 2e grootste stad.
Een korte introductie tot een deel van de meer dan 88 eilanden (waarvan er slechts ongeveer 20 bewoond zijn) die de archipel vormen.
Het Bubaque-eiland, dit is het grootste eiland in de archipel. Met een totale bevolking van iets meer dan 6.000. Het eiland meet ongeveer 13,6 km lang x 8 km breed, met een oppervlakte van 75 vierkante kilometer.
Het Orango-eiland
Dit bewoonde eiland van ongeveer 1250 mensen is bedekt met savannegrasland en is populair bij zoutwaternijlpaarden. De beste tijd om nijlpaarden te spotten is van oktober tot februari, wanneer ze op zoek zijn naar zout water en wisselvallige lagunes. Een bezoek aan het oude graf van de priester van het Bijagos-volk maakt deel uit van de cultuur.
Poilao-eiland
Nog een prachtig eiland in de archipel waar van augustus tot februari groene zeeschildpadden broeden. Mysteries van de natuur zijn hier aan het werk als de broedende moederschildpaddenbaby's die tot aan Mauritanië komen, terugkeren naar ditzelfde eiland waar ze zijn geboren.

This tour to Guinea Bissau,former Portuguese colony with quick access from Gambia through Senegal will leave ever lasting memories.The country famous for its archipelagos,wildlife, cultural festivities, is a hidden gem, un-spoilt by mass tourism.
The tour will depart from the hotel at 7am then drive to the east. First stop would be at the Brikama live stock market in the 2nd largest city.
A brief introduction to part of the over 88 islands (of which only about 20 are inhabited) that make up the archipelago.
The Bubaque Island,this is the biggest island in the archipelago.With a total population of a little over 6,000.The island measures about 13.6km long x 8km wide,with an area of 75 square kilometers.
The Orango Island
This inhabited island of around 1250 people is covered with savannah grass land and is popular with salt water hippos. Best time to spot hippos is October to February when they are looking for salt water and swapy lagoons.visiting the ancient grave of the priest of the Bijagos people is part of the culture.
Poilao Island
Another beautiful island in the archipelago where green sea turtles breeds from August to February. Mysteries of nature at work here as the breeding mother turtles babies coming as far as Mauritania comes back to this very island where they were born.
